The Chestnut
Hill Health Care Foundation is a diverse board representing the
various communities served by the Foundation. President is Craig
Johnson; Vice President is Charlotte Betancourt; Secretary is
Francis Ballard; Treasurer is Ludlow Miller. Committee Chairpersons

Francis
Ballard, Esq. is a retired partner, Ballard Spahr Andrews
& Ingersoll, LLP. A long time community resident and contributor
to many non profit boards, Francis is the Co-founder and a board
member of the Wissahickon Hospice and currently a board member
at Chestnut Hill Heath Care Foundation. Francis chairs the Nominating
Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee. He
serves as Secretary of the Board of the Foundation.
Charlotte Betancourt, is a retired Chemistry Teacher from
The Baldwin School. She has been involved in multiple community
organizations, including chairing the board at Springside School,
and being involved with the Community Health Improvement Team
at Chestnut Hill HealthCare. She continues her local dedication
with Co-Chairing the Philadelphia Flower Show Information Booth,
Vestry at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, board member at Wissahickon
Skating Club and board member at Chestnut Hill Health Care Foundation.
Charlotte is a member of the Nominating Committee.
C. Richard
Cox, now retired, had a wonderful working history including
being the Aide to Congressman Chaka Fattah as well as the Senior
Program Officer & Vice President for Programs at the William
Penn Foundation. A retired minister, he serves on several social
service and foundation boards. He did a two-month work study in
Israel and led monitoring teams to Haiti and the South African
elections in 1994. A life member of the NAACP, he has received
many awards. He chairs the Grants Committee and is a member of
the Executive Committee.
Anita S.
Crielly is the Deputy Director for Personal Health Services
at Montgomery County Health Department. With an extensive background
in public health, Anita has been honored by receiving many awards,
the latest being the Harry Gehman Award. Crielly has always stayed
active in her community with the American Public Health Association,
the Community Health Education Association and currently as a
board member for the Chestnut Hill Health Care Foundation. She
is a member of the Grants and Executive Committees and chairs
the Audit Committee.
Tine Hansen-Turton,
MGA, is the CEO of the National Nursing Centers Consortium
(NNCC), which grew from 11 regional health centers to a national
representation of more than 200 nurse-managed health centers in
the U.S. She is also Vice President of Health Care access and
Policy for the Philadelphia Health Management Corporation. Tine's
background within the health world is extensive. She has authored
books and many articles on community health care. She teaches
health policy, program planning and outcome evaluation to nursing
students at La Salle University, School of Nursing. She was also
responsible for ensuring that Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
were defined as primary care providers in the Pennsylvania Patient's
Bill of Rights Act, Act 68. She is also a recent Eisenhower Fellow.
She is a member of the Grants Committee, the Nominating committee
and the Development and Communications Committee.
Craig Johnson
is a seasoned executive with experience in staff and consulting
work, in line management as COO and CEO, as an investment banker,
and as director with a number of profit and not for profit organizations.
Craig was Managing Director and Partner of Glenthorne Capital,
Inc. and now serves as Advisory Director. He currently serves
on a number of boards, and is President of the Board of the Chestnut
Hill Health Care Foundaiton, as well as chairman of the Finance
& Investment Committee as well as the Executive Committee.
John Kimberly
teaches at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania
and is the Executive Director of Wharton's strategid alliance
with INSEAD, a business school outside of Paris. He has served
on the boards of the Chestnut Hill Hospital; Chestnut Hill HealthCare;
the Wissahickon Hospice; the Bach Festival of Philadelphia; and
the Community Financial Bancorp. He currently serves on the boards
of the OESO Foundation; the St. Regis Roundation; and the Arto
Monaco Historical Society. John and his wife Barbaie are members
of St. Paul's Church, where he has served on the Vestry. They
live with their youngest daughter, Charlotte, in the Pearson House
in Chestnut Hill.
Joan Henley
Mattoon grew up and raised her family on Philadelphias
Main Line. Her three sons attended Episcopal Academy where she
served on the Board of Parents for 15 years, as President for
three, and on the Board of Trustees. Joan also served as a member
of the Alumni Board of Friends Central School. Moving to the Chestnut
Hill area more than 20 years ago, Joan continued to serve the
community as a member of the Auxiliary Board of Chestnut Hill
Hospital. She was a Chair and in that role served on the Hospitals
Board of Trustees. Joan is now Co-Chair of the Friends of the
Chestnut Hill Health Care Foundation and a member of the Foundations
Development Committee
Ludlow
Miller retired from PNC Advisors as Senior Vice President
in 2007. Prior to that, he was National Sales Manager for Jack
Frost Sugar. Miller has stayed dedicated to the community that
he raised his family in and serves on the boards of Springside
School and Outward Bound. He served for 8 years on the System
Board of Chestnut Hill Hospital prior to joining the Chestnut
Hill Health Care Foundation Board. He chairs the Development &
Communications Committee and sits on the Executive Committee.
He is also Treasurer of the Board of the Foundation.
Maitlon
T. Russell is co-founder and Principal of The Melior Group.
Mailton has more than thirty years of experience in the creative
and strategic aspects of marketing and provides analytical and
interpretive skills honed in a lengthy career in corporate marketing
management. He is past chairman of the Philadelphia Parking Authority,
former member of the Philadelphia Airport Advisory Committee and
currently serves on the board of the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial,
Center in the Park and Chestnut Hill Health Care Foundation. Maitlon
serves on the Executive Committee as well as the Development &
Communications Committee.
Elizabeth
(Beth) L. Thorp is a founding partner of PharmaPro, Inc.,
a firm specializing consulting and placement services for pharmaceutical
companies and pharmaceutical service agencies such as healthcare
data providers and market research firms. Beth has lived in the
Chestnut Hill area virtually her whole life, and has been involved
in a number of community organizations. She was a long-time member
of the Wissahickon Skating Club, and served several terms on their
Board of Directors. She is currently Treasurer of the Wissahickon
Figure Skating Fund. Beth also serves as class agent for Springside
School. She was a member of the board of the Auxiliary of Chestnut
Hill HealthCare, and is now Co-Chair of the Friends of the Chestnut
Hill Health Care Foundation. Beth also serves as a member of the
Foundations Development Committee.
Walter
Tsou, MD, MPH, has a distinguished public health history.
He is President of the American Public Health Association and
currently serves on the visiting faculties of the University of
Pennsylvania and Drexel School of Public Health. He served as
Health Commissioner of Philadelphia and was the founding Deputy
Director for Personal Health Services and Medical Director of
the Montgomery County Health Department. Walter also has served
on several boards including the Maternity Care Coalition, and
the Philadelphia HIV Commission. Walter serves on the Audit and
the Governance Committees of the Chestnut Hill Health Care Foundation.
Cheryl H. Wade is Director for Philanthropy
at the Kendal Corporation, a Quaker-related system of continuing
care retirement communities. An ordained Baptist minister, she
has served as an associate pastor for a large urban congregation
and held executive positions with the Ministers and Missionary
Board of the American Baptist Churches USA. Ms. Wade holds an
MBA in non-profit management from Columbia University. She was
a former board member of Northwest Interfaith Movement and is
the current board chair of Build-a-Bridge. Ms. Wade serves on
the Foundation communication and development committee. She resides
in Germantown with her husband Richard, Headmaster of Germantown
Friends School.
English D. Willis, MD, is a pediatrician
in private practice. She earned her medical degree at the University
of Pennsylvania, completed her internship and residency at Rainbow
Babies and Childrens Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, and completed
her fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medical Institution in Baltimore,
Maryland. Dr. Willis has been recognized several times by Philadelphia
Magazine as a Top Doc.
A strong advocate for maternal child health rights,
Dr. Willis serves on the board of the Maternity Care Coalition
and is a member of the Governors Commission of Children
and Families and the Health Care for the Homeless Advisory Committee
for the Philadelphia Health Management Corporation. She is the
former Director of the Pediatric Residency Program and former
Chair of the Graduate Medical Education Committee at Crozer-Chester
Medical Center. Dr. Willis is a member of the Foundation grants
committee. She resides in Mt. Airy.
