FRIENDS OF THE FOUNDATION

The Friends of Chestnut Hill Health Care Foundation, formerly the Auxiliary of Chestnut Hill Health Care, had its origins in 1907 as the Board of Women Visitors of the Chestnut Hill Hospital. With this century-old history, the Friends now serve as a committee of the Foundation and assist in community relations and fund raising.

Girl’s Night Out

More than 150 women attended this Friends-sponsored shopping event held November 1, 2007, at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club. Thirty artisans and boutiques, including Foundation grantee BREAKFREE Youth Design, participated. BREAKFREE uses sewing, design and youth entrepreneurship to educate, mentor and empower Philadelphia teenagers. Fourteen hand-crafted bags from students at the HOPE Charter School in Germantown were sold at the event. Students received 100 percent of the proceeds of the sale of their work.

Dream Find on the Hill
A bride from Spain finds the dress of her dreams at a Chestnut Hill thrift shop.

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. The traditional guideline a bride follows when putting together her wedding day ensemble, and although Marta Bordonada's wedding was anything but traditional, her wedding dress managed to fit into three of those categories in a unique way.
